Description

A hearty, cheesy, and comforting beef and pasta casserole with a rich tomato sauce, perfect for family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups cooked egg noodles
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, cook ground beef and diced onion over medium heat until beef is browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
  4. Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine cooked egg noodles and sour cream.
  6. Layer half of the noodle mixture in the prepared baking dish.
  7. Top with half of the beef mixture and half of the shredded cheddar cheese.
  8. Repeat layers, finishing with shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, use fire-roasted tomatoes and add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
