- For the Muffins:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup whole milk
- For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with liners or grease well.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
- In a large bowl, beat softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
- Alternately add dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Mix just until combined.
- Divide batter evenly among muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.
- Bake 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean with a few moist crumbs.
- While muffins bake, melt butter in a bowl and combine cinnamon and sugar in another bowl.
- When muffins are cool enough to handle but still warm, dip the tops into melted butter, then coat in cinnamon sugar. For extra coating, dip twice if desired.

Store muffins at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze uncoated muffins for up to 2 months. Reheat gently and apply cinnamon sugar after warming for the freshest flavor.
