Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Chocolate Shell:
    • 8 ounces dark chocolate (at least 70% cacao)
  • For the Pistachio and Kataifi Filling:
    • 1 cup kataifi (or unsweetened coconut flakes)
    • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
    • 1/2 cup pistachio cream (or any nut butter of choice)
    • 1 tablespoon tahini
    • Pinch of sea salt
  • Optional Decorations:
    • Melted green chocolate (for drizzling)
    • Edible gold luster
    • Crushed pistachios or coconut flakes (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preparing the Chocolate Base:
    • Melt the dark chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl or double boiler, stirring constantly. Ensure it doesn’t exceed 90°F (32°C).
    • Pour the melted chocolate into silicone bar molds, coating the sides evenly. Refrigerate until hardened.
  2. Making the Pistachio and Kataifi Filling:
    • Break the kataifi into small pieces and toast in a pan with melted butter until golden and crispy.
    • In a bowl, mix the toasted kataifi with pistachio cream, tahini, and sea salt until smooth.
  3. Layering and Setting the Chocolate Bar:
    • Spread a layer of the pistachio-kataifi mixture in the chocolate-lined molds, leaving a gap around the edges.
    • Pour another layer of melted chocolate over the filling to seal. Smooth it out and refrigerate until fully set (about 20 minutes).
  4. Decorating Your Chocolate Bars:
    • Drizzle melted green chocolate and dust with edible gold luster for a luxurious finish. Add toppings if desired.
  5. Serving Suggestions:
    • Enjoy as gifts or pair with traditional Middle Eastern tea or coffee.

Notes

  • If kataifi is unavailable, unsweetened coconut flakes or vermicelli noodles can be used.
  • Experiment with different nut butters or chocolate types for variations.
