Description
A bubbling, creamy crab dip inspired by Joe’s Crab Shack—cheesy, rich, and loaded with sweet crab meat. The ultimate seafood appetizer you can make at home.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 lb lump crab meat, drained and picked through
- 3 green onions, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice, freshly squeezed
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Let cream cheese soften at room temperature or microwave for 15-20 seconds until soft.
- In a large bowl, mix softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, and sour cream until smooth using an electric mixer.
- Fold in cheddar cheese, parmesan, garlic, Old Bay seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, cayenne, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix until combined.
- Gently fold in crab meat and green onions, being careful to keep crab chunks intact.
- Transfer to a 1-quart baking dish or 9-inch pie plate. Smooth top and add extra cheese if desired.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until hot and bubbling. Broil for 1-2 minutes at the end for a golden top.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and let sit 5 minutes before serving with chips, bread, or vegetables.
Notes
Use room temperature dairy for a smooth texture. Splurge on high-quality lump crab for best results. Can be made ahead and baked just before serving. Avoid overbaking to keep the dip creamy.
