Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan or a loaf pan.
- Cream the butter and sugar: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Mix the dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the sour cream, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
- Add vanilla extract and mix until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool: Let the cake cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
Notes
- For added flavor, you can fold in lemon zest or almond extract.
